Talk your loved one through the process, step by step
Let your loved one help when possible
Never leave your loved one alone in the tub
Dressing
Dress at the same time each day to keep a routine
Limit clothing choices to keep things simple
Lay out clothing in the order the items will be put on
Choose items with elastic or Velcro instead of buttons and
zippers
Nutrition
Limit noise and other distractions, such as television
Offer smaller meals throughout the day with fewer
food items to keep things simple
Consider serving finger foods in a bowl to avoid
handling utensils
For drinks, try using a straw or cup with a lid
to limit spills
Keep nutritious snacks on hand to help make eating
well more convenient

Remove locks on bathroom doors and closets to avoid
accidental lock-ins
Secure cleaning supplies and other household
chemicals with child-proof latches
Clearly label all medicines and keep in a locked location
